I have been teaching for 10 years, all of which are here at Southwest City Elementary. The last seven have been in kindergarten, which is where I find myself most at home. I grew up in Southwest City and attended school in this very building. I attended college at Northeastern State University where I received a B.S. in Early Childhood Education in 2007. I am the 2014-2015 McDonald County R-1 District Teacher of the Year as well as the 2014-2015 Southwest City Elementary Teacher of the Year. It is an honor to have been recognized among so many outstanding peers and colleagues.
I am in love with teaching kindergarten. It may look like all play or a bit of chaos for some outsiders, but it is planned and has a purpose. On a daily basis, I get to witness young minds discovering and making sense of the world around them. I am always amazed by how much their little brains soak up in such a short period of time. I am very thankful that I get to be a part of building a strong foundation for their learning.
I am a proud mom of two, Abbie (10) and Weston (5) with my wonderful husband, Aaron. Needless to say, I am a bit busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. We settled outside of Southwest City, where we built our dream house near family. Our roots run deep here, and I feel so lucky to be a part of this amazing community. I am a fitness and outdoors enthusiast, enjoy cooking, and you can usually find me in my yard working on my next landscaping project or hiking a nearby trail if the weather is nice.
I believe that open communication between parents and teachers is a crucial component to a student's education. Please feel free to contact me anytime. If you need to get a hold of me during the school day, the easiest way is to e-mail me at: [email protected]
